The Sayings of Jesus

Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

Matthew, chapters 5, 6, and 7 comprise the teachings of Jesus that we refer to as the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus referred to them as “these sayings of mine”, and they make up a large part of what He taught on the principles of the kingdom of God.

This is a great section of scripture to study and meditate in, as it is the Master Himself teaching on the subject of how to live in the kingdom of God. These teachings make up the very core of what the Christian life is about.

And though these sayings are not necessarily easy to grasp, as we ponder them we will begin to understand what Jesus views as the important attitudes and behaviors that those who profess to be Christians should develop in their individual lives, the very things that cause them to stand out as the children of their Father.

Hopefully we will become more Christ-like as we look into these timeless sayings of Jesus.
